JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, coordinates general ledger activities, ensures accuracy of account balances and maintains the organization’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Prepares monthly and financial reports for all YWCA companies. Coordinates agency annual budget process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Plans and coordinates department activities involving general ledger.
Prepares monthly and annual closing journal entries, correcting entries, indirect cost allocations, general ledger account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements and ensures reasonableness and compliance with accounting principles and government regulations.
Revises indirect cost allocations periodically and adjusts them as changes occur.
Assists in the agency budget preparation process, budgets agency occupancy expenses, prepares all budget worksheet documents, analyzes proposed budgets, and completes the agency annual budget reports.
Prepares, reconciles, summarizes, and interprets financial and operating data to appraise operating results.
Analyzes and researches operating and financial variances or trends and discusses them with supervisor.
Issues financial statements as needed.
Prepares audit schedules and assists in providing audit samples.
Take physical inventory with the purchasing manager and reconciles the inventory count at the warehouse periodically.
Becomes proficient in all accounting and membership related software.
Assists in the filing of 1099 and W-2 forms.
Assists in the filing of annual census report and other information required by management or law.
Develops and monitors accounting manual and procedures related to general ledger and accounts payable-related areas.
Performs accounts payable, payroll and billing, as needed.
Maintains complex cost records, allocating expenditures to accounts in accordance with established procedures.
Ensures all W-9s are obtained from new vendors and existing W-9s are filed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
Must have analytical ability, strong understanding of financial analysis, account budgeting and forecasting methods and be detailed oriented.
Must be highly organized, flexible, with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a busy non-profit environment.
Must be proficient in Microsoft applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, with good listening ability.
Excellent interpersonal skills required, with ability to interact at all levels.
Must be able to work under pressure with constant interruptions.
Must be able to work independently and autonomously as needed with minimal supervision.
Must be able to make sound judgments, have excellent decision-making skills, and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
Hands-on computer skills required, including experience working with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint software.
Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver's license and sufficient liability insurance.
