YWCA utilizes an early childhood education model that engages children in a rigorous active learning environment that is play and project-based. Our curriculum is also bilingual, preparing students to participate in a global society. YWCA Academies for Early Learning also feature the ABC Mouse curriculum for students ages 2 and up. With ABC Mouse, students use technology as part of their regular learning and parents are able to reinforce that learning and engage with their children at home.

YWCA’s mission is eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. We live our mission every day through our educational programs. Our students read books that feature women, Hispanic, Asian, black, Middle Eastern, and LGBTQ+ characters, stories of Hispanic culture, nonfiction stories about women and people of color making a difference in the world, and more!

YWCA also provides coloring and activity pages to our students that introduce them to important historical figures such as Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Sonia Sotomayor, Clara Barton, Harvey Milk, and more, as well as different types of families.

By reading these books and participating in these activities, YWCA students will have a normalized and positive view of women, people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ community members as they grow.

Beyond an academic childcare curriculum, YWCA has introduced other curricula to best serve our students and their families. Through a partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, we have implemented an emotional and behavioral health curriculum to help YWCA students excel in all aspects of life. We also train students and families in proper dental health and offer vision, speech, and hearing screenings through partnerships with local universities and colleges.
