YWCA El Paso Statement on the Death of George Floyd

June 2, 2020

YWCA El Paso extends our condolences to the family and loved ones of George Floyd.  We join the nation in mourning his death and the death of so many that have been victims of institutional racism.  Racism at all levels of our communities, government, and institutions must be addressed and abolished.  YWCA El Paso calls for racial justice reform and the reform of systems that disproportionately affect the lives of Black Americans and other people of color.

We call on local, state, and national leaders to work together to bring peace, justice, and dignity to all communities.  We call on all Americans to unify and to call out all acts of hatred, racism, and violence.  We must come together and do the work to promote an equal and just America.  An America where everyone is heard.  Where everyone is valued.  Where everyone feels safe and protected regardless of the color of their skin.  We must stand as one.

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
